Teaching Elementary School Kids about Hooker

Let me share a quick story with you. 

As a part-time job - to bring in a steady cash flow while I build my video business - I drive a school bus for the local school district.



During the last week of school, it was a gorgeous day and I had a bus full of elementary school kids ... when I suggested "Let's play hooky!"

... only to be faced with silence on the bus. This shocked me, until I realized they didn't understand the term. So, I told them, "It means skipping school"... and now the bus erupted in laughter and comments.

It wasn't long after that when I had 58 elementary school kids chanting ....

"Let's play hooker"
"Let's play hooker"

... when I said, "You kids got it wrong....it is

 H O O K I E ....

Please don't tell your parents that bus driver Mister Jim taught you this."

Then they taught me a new word - "Ditch Day" - which seems to be the safer expression to use in the future.
